People who do not follow or get involved in politics reek of privilege.
There's something to that. Most Black people I talked to, when I still could canvass, were politically aware; most whites weren't. I suppose that's a reflection of institutional racism: Blacks know very well that who governs makes a difference; for whites the difference is less obvious.
